About University

Beijing Institute of Technology (BIT) is a leading national university in China, founded in 1940 in Yan'an. Immediately after the founding of the People's Republic of China, the university was moved to Beijing and in 1952 was renamed Beijing Engineering College, becoming the first defense industry university. In 1988, the institution received its current name. BIT is currently under the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of China.
The university has 22 schools (faculties), offers a variety of undergraduate, graduate and doctoral programs, and is committed to attracting international students—the number of registered international students is growing rapidly.
BIT has a rich research portfolio in applied and strategically important areas: robotics, artificial intelligence, modern communications, manufacturing, energy, and systems management.
The university has over 30,000 full-time students , including undergraduate, master's, and doctoral students. Faculty and staff: approximately 5,800 employees; a significant number of national and international talents and academics. BIT collaborates with universities in more than 78 countries/regions , runs student and faculty exchange programs, and attracts international students.
