Follow these steps to apply GIST | Gwangju Institute of Science and Technology

Online application

Fill out the online application and don't forget to write down the application number, which is automatically generated during registration. * It is important to enter your recommender's email address correctly. In order for your recommender to send a letter of recommendation, they must use the exact same email address that you provided in your application.

Request for a letter of recommendation

Ask your recommender to send a letter of recommendation. He/she will need your application number to create an account in the referral system.

Uploading documents

Upload the required documents into the application system and click the [Submission] button before the application deadline. You will be able to submit your application only after all required documents have been uploaded and the letter of recommendation has been sent by your recommender.

Check request status

After submitting your application, please check your email at least once a day to see if GIST has requested an interview or additional documents.

Getting a response

Check your final admission result in the online application system on the day of admission announcement.

Registration

Completion of enrollment requires submission of documents to GIST. If you decide to accept the offer of admission, you must register with GIST within the specified deadline. The original high school diploma certified by an apostille (or consulate) and other documents requested by GIST must be mailed to the Admissions Office. After this procedure, you will receive a certificate of enrollment and other documents for applying for a visa.

Obtaining a visa

The visa application process for students from Kazakhstan planning to study in Korea involves several main steps. First of all, applicants need a passport valid for at least 6 months. They must fill out a visa application form, attach a current color photograph (3.5 x 4.5 cm), and provide a copy of the personal information page of the passport. To obtain a long-term visa for more than 90 days, applicants must undergo a tuberculosis test (fluorography/PCR test) at an approved clinic within the last 3 months. A certificate of enrollment from the chosen educational institution in original or a copy is required. An academic transcript, such as an original document from the last educational institution with an English translation, must be provided. In addition, a bank statement with a live seal issued within the last 2 weeks confirming financial capacity is required. The required amount varies depending on the type of program and place of residence. Students who are pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree in Seoul, Incheon or Gyeonggi need to present $20,000. For students from other cities, the amount is $18,000. The visa application processing period is about 14 working days, excluding weekends and holidays, the consular fee is $90, paid in cash.
