Heriot-Watt was first founded in 1821 following a conversation between two Edinburgh businessmen who went on to pioneer education for the working class. The university is now shaping the world as a global university, a leader in transnational education. The purpose-built campus of Heriot Watt University Malaysia opened to students in Putrajaya in September 2014, with the official opening taking place on 12 February 2015.
