About University

HKMU is the only university established by the government with its own funding. It started as a distance learning university, but is now effectively two universities in one. It began offering full-time programmes in 2001 and has been a member of the centralised Joint Universities Admissions Scheme (JUPAS) since 2007. The university currently has over 9,600 full-time students, accounting for one-sixth of Hong Kong’s undergraduate students. The current President is Professor Lam Kwan Sing.
