About University

Schreiner University is a private liberal arts institution affiliated with the Presbyterian Church and located in the small town of Kerrville, Texas.

Charles Schreiner, a Texas rancher and philanthropist who served as Kerr County treasurer for three decades, founded the school in 1917 as the Schreiner Institute. It was originally a military school, but it incorporated academic programs to prepare students for further education.

In 1971, Schreiner's military training ended and it became a four-year college. In 2001, the school became Schreiner University when it began offering master's degrees.
