Obtaining a visa

Applications for a student visa are made online to the Australian Department of Home Affairs. You can apply for a student visa (subclass 500) once you have received a Confirmation of Enrolment (CoE) from the University. This will be required by Home Affairs when you apply for your visa. The University will issue you with a CoE once you have: - formally accepted an offer of admission - submitted signed acceptance and refund forms - paid your first term fee - taken out an Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC). Around 90% of international students receive an Australian student visa within 42 days of submitting their application.

Preparing for departure

Before leaving home, make sure you are aware of the entry requirements for Australia and identify items that cannot be brought in or sent and/or items that must be declared at the airport on arrival. This may include some types of food. Visit the DAFF website for advice on what can be brought in or sent into Australia.
