Preparing to submit an application
Please visit the online application website http://studyinkorea.go.kr .
Create an account
Create an account on the site by registering as a member.
Online application
Select UNIST as your preferred institution. Complete all required information in the online application.
Uploading documents
Make sure all necessary documents are ready. All documents must be in English. If they are in another language, please provide a notarized translation into English. Combine the required documents (list 1-11) into one PDF file. Submitting an application
When you finish filling out the application, use the "Save" button to save the results. Click the "Submit" button after completing the application.
Check request status
After submitting, check the status in the section "My Page" - "Status". Note: If multiple applications are submitted, the assessment is based on the last submitted application. Once you submit your application, you cannot make any changes to it. To make changes, request them in the "My Page" - "Modify" section.
Waiting for a response
Admissions staff will contact applicants via email if necessary. Please monitor your email for messages from admissions staff. An interview may be conducted if necessary.
Receiving an invitation for an interview
Candidates for interview are selected based on the Accepted status obtained through document verification. The interview, conducted online or in person, focuses on qualitative aspects such as suitability and vision. Following the interview, candidates are categorized as "Accepted," "Candidate," or "Rejected." Admission criteria may vary in accordance with UNIST's admissions policies.
Registration
Successful candidates must transfer the required deposit within the specified period. Failure to transfer the deposit will be considered a refusal to register. Based on the results of registration of successful candidates, additional registration may be conducted among the nominated candidates.
Obtaining a visa
The visa application process for students from Kazakhstan planning to study in Korea involves several main steps. First of all, applicants need a passport valid for at least 6 months. They must fill out a visa application form, attach a current color photograph (3.5 x 4.5 cm), and provide a copy of the personal information page of the passport. To obtain a long-term visa for more than 90 days, applicants must undergo a tuberculosis test (fluorography/PCR test) at an approved clinic within the last 3 months. A certificate of enrollment from the chosen educational institution in original or a copy is required. An academic transcript, such as an original document from the last educational institution with an English translation, must be provided. In addition, a bank statement with a live seal issued within the last 2 weeks confirming financial capacity is required. The required amount varies depending on the type of program and place of residence. Students who are pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree in Seoul, Incheon or Gyeonggi need to present $20,000. For students from other cities, the amount is $18,000. The visa application processing period is about 14 working days, excluding weekends and holidays, the consular fee is $90, paid in cash.
Preparing for departure
Preparing for departure includes booking tickets and accommodation, medical preparation, collecting necessary documents, financial preparation, packing luggage, learning local rules and customs, and familiarizing yourself with transportation.
