The history of the University of Bologna goes back several centuries, and it is rightfully considered the oldest university in Europe. The fate of the university is closely intertwined with the lives of great scientists and writers and has a huge influence on European culture. Today, the University of Bologna is a leading university in the European Higher Education Area and is famous for its picturesque campuses that fit seamlessly into the architecture of the city. The university's program catalog is striking in its diversity and meets the needs of modern society: more than 90,000 students from 33 faculties and 11 schools of the University of Bologna study more than 200 educational programs.
In addition to the five Italian campuses in Bologna, Cesena, Forlì, Ravenna and Rimini, the university has an overseas campus in Buenos Aires, which enables collaboration with Latin America in the areas of research, education and postgraduate studies. In addition to close collaboration with European universities, the University of Bologna is also actively developing links with countries in North America, Africa, Asia and Australia.

The first step is to familiarize yourself with the University of Bologna programs, admission requirements, and assess your relevant qualifications. Familiarization with university deadlines and preparation of necessary documents

The University of Bologna accepts students for study once a year - for the autumn semester of the current year. Prepare the documents required for admission: exam results, language tests, academic transcripts, letters of recommendation, essays, resumes and other documents.

Entrance exams

Applicants must pass the entrance exams - the TOLC-E test or English TOLC-E at home (TOLC@CASA) - the Italian equivalent of the UNT or the SAT test - depending on the requirements of a specific program and send the results of one of the above exams along with the application for study. Filling out and submitting an application for training

You can use this link to create a profile on the University of Bologna website, complete and submit your application along with the results of one of the TOLC-E or SAT entrance exams: https://www.unibo.it/en/teaching/degree-programmes/ You will need to pay an application fee of 20 euros.

Decision on the application

After receiving your application, the results of the entrance examinations and payment of the application fee, the University of Bologna will review the applications and make a decision. Applications are reviewed on a competitive basis and applications are awarded points based on the quality and completeness of the documents submitted and the results of the entrance examinations. Registration for studies (Preliminary stage)

Once you have received notification of a positive decision on your application, you must confirm your acceptance of the course in writing, pay the initial tuition fee and begin pre-registration for your studies. The pre-registration application must be submitted through the Universitaly online portal at the following link: https://www.universitaly.it Due to the high volume of pre-registration requests, this process may take up to 5 weeks. Please check your email and Universitaly profile regularly to ensure you do not miss any notifications about pre-registration confirmation or the need to make corrections or provide missing information.

Applying for a student visa

After receiving confirmation of pre-registration from Universitaly, you can go to the Italian embassy/consulate to apply for a student visa (type D visa). To find out where and how to apply for a visa to Italy and what documents are needed, follow the link: https://vistoperitalia.esteri.it/home/en Once you receive your visa, do not forget to upload a copy of it to your profile on the university website at the link: https://studenti.unibo.it/sol/welcome.htm?siteLanguage=en to confirm your enrollment at the University of Bologna. You must also start booking accommodation at the University of Bologna . Within 8 working days after arriving in Italy, you must apply for a Residence permit. You must take the originals of all educational documents with you on your trip.

Registration for studies (Final stage)

To complete the registration, you must provide the university with the originals of the following documents: 1. Passport with a student visa; 2. Residence permit; 3. Secondary school certificate/diploma; 4. Certificate of legalization/apostille of the certificate/diploma of education; 5. Certificate of legal force of educational documents: (Declaration of Value) or certificate of conformity of educational documents (Statement Comparability) from CIMEA. Legalization of the certificate/diploma and documents on legal force (Declaration of Value) can be requested at the Italian embassy/consulate in the country where the certificate/diploma was issued.
