The University of Padova (UNIPD) was founded in 1222 and is the second oldest institution of higher education in Italy and the world. This leading research university has produced the fathers of modern science, Nicolaus Copernicus and Galileo Galilei, the founders of medicine, Andreas Vesalius and William Harvey, and the first woman in the world to receive a PhD, Elena Cornaro-Piscopià. The university has 43 research centers, an experimental farm, 13 museums, an anatomical theater, a hospital, an astrophysical observatory, and a medieval botanical garden, which is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

About University

The University of Padova (UNIPD) is a multidisciplinary university offering a wide range of educational programs in many academic disciplines. The university has 13 faculties: Humanities and Philosophy, Economics, Education, Engineering, Law, Physics and Mathematics, Natural Sciences, Medicine and Surgery, Pharmacy, Agriculture, Psychology, Political Science, Statistics and Veterinary Science. Instruction is in English. In 2020, an innovative teaching system was developed that combines offline and online classes.

In addition, UNIPD offers Italian language courses to help students better integrate into local life, internships and employment. The unique learning environment at the university is closely linked to the city and its urban structure. Padua is a city that combines historical traditions, art and culture, but at the same time lives a modern, relaxed life. The first step is to familiarize yourself with the University of Padova programs, admission requirements, and assess your relevant qualifications. Choose the program and specialization that matches your interests, educational and career goals. You can apply to up to 3 study programs at the same time at the University of Padova.

Familiarization with University Deadlines

The University of Padova accepts students for study once a year - for the autumn semester of the current year. For undergraduate programs with a limited number of places, applications are accepted from January 7, 2024 to March 7, 2024, for other programs without a limit on places - from November 2, 2023 to February 2, 2024.

Preparing the necessary documents and filling out an application for training

Submitting an application for training and paying the entrance fee

Submit your application to the University of Padova via your profile on the university website. You will need to pay an application fee of 30 euros. If you apply to several programs, you only need to pay the application fee once.

Entrance exam English TOLC/Online interview

After receiving the application and paying the admission fee, applicants to the limited number of places in the undergraduate programs: Animal Care, Biology of Human and Environmental Health, Earth and Climate Dynamics, Information Engineering will have to pass the English TOLC-i entrance exam (Italian equivalent of the UNT). Applicants to the Bachelor's Degree in Psychological Science and Techniques and Bachelor's Degree in Methods in Psychological Science programs - a type of TOLC - TOLC-PSI. Detailed information about the TOLC exams is available on the website: https://www.unipd.it/en/studying-padua/admission/tolc. Applicants to the Bachelor's Degree in Italian Medieval and Renaissance Studies program will be invited to online interviews.

Application review by the University

The University of Padova processes applications on a competitive basis. Applications are awarded points out of 100 based on the quality and completeness of the documents submitted and the results of the interview or entrance examination. To be considered successfully, an application must score a minimum of 60 points. In the event of a tie between applications, priority is given to the application from the younger student. The results of the competitive review of applications for programmes with a limited number of places are published on the website: www.unipd.it/en/admission-results. For programmes without a limit on places, the results can be found through your profile on the University of Padova website.

Decision on the application

If you have met the admission requirements and demonstrated sufficient motivation to study, you will receive a notification of a positive decision by e-mail. You must confirm your consent to study in writing and pay a registration fee of 200 euros.

Pre-registration for studies

Applicants from outside the EU and residing outside Italy at the time of application must pre-register on the Universitaly portal at https://www.universitaly.it/ no later than 15 July 2024. To register on the portal, you must upload a passport-sized photograph and a colour scan of the first page of a valid passport. Due to the high volume of pre-registration requests, this process may take up to 5 weeks. Please check your email and Universitaly profile regularly to receive notifications about pre-registration confirmation or the need to make corrections or provide missing information.

Preparing for studies and obtaining a visa

Once you have received confirmation of your pre-registration from Universitaly, you can contact the Italian embassy/consulate that you have indicated on the Universitaly portal to apply for a student visa. You must also start booking accommodation in Padua. Within 8 working days of your arrival in Padua, you must apply for a Residence permit in Italy. You must bring the originals of all educational documents with you on your trip.

Completion of registration for studies

To complete the registration, the following original documents must be submitted to the University by 31 October 2024: 1. Passport with student visa; 2. Residence permit; 3. Secondary school leaving certificate/diploma; 4. Certificate of legalization/apostille of the secondary school leaving certificate/diploma; 5. Certificate of legal validity of the educational documents: (Declaration of Value) or certificate of conformity of the educational documents (Statement Comparability) from CIMEA. Legalization of the secondary school leaving certificate/diploma and the documents on legal validity (Declaration of Value) can be requested from the Italian Embassy/Consulate in the country where the certificate/diploma was issued. The apostille is issued by the official body of the country that issued the certificate/diploma.
