Year 1 (from October entry) Students enrol on 1 October at the Hongo Campus and begin design research with an accepted G30-UDA supervisor in the Department of Architecture. Coursework runs in parallel: credits earned in the architecture strand of the School of Engineering English Course Group count towards the completion requirement, and the course directs students to the UT-MATE syllabus search for the individual subjects offered. The course publishes no compulsory subject list of its own. Subjects listed in the UT-MATE course catalogue for the Department of Architecture (course-level detail not published by the programme) Courses from the School of Engineering English Course Group, whose architecture strand (建築系) is named as counting towards required credits Japanese language classes (free, optional, not credited towards completion) Year 2 The second year is centred on the design research and the master's thesis, with the balance of the minimum 30 credits completed alongside. The degree is awarded once the thesis is accepted and the final examination passed. Master's thesis (design research) and final examination Remaining English-taught subjects from the department and the English Course Group Completion "To complete the Global 30 Master's program at the School of Engineering of the University of Tokyo, you must: enroll for a period of at least 2 years, complete the required courses, earn more than 30 credits, receive the necessary research guidance, and e) have the master's thesis accepted and pass the final examinations.
