Year 3 (first GSC year) — Autumn (A) Semester from early October, then Summer (S Transfer students enter the Department of Chemistry in the third undergraduate year in October and begin the GSC compulsory core: the GSC-designated lecture courses in chemical thermodynamics, quantum, inorganic, analytical and organic chemistry together with the two large GSC laboratory courses. The elective Japanese language course is offered in the first semester. The GSC website does not publish a year-by-year allocation of individual courses, so the split of the listed courses between the third and fourth years is not stated; the credit totals below are the published graduation requirements for the two-year programme as a whole.
