Year 1 (two-year master's programme) Students join the master's programme of their admitting department and their supervisor's laboratory. The first year combines the compulsory subjects and departmental coursework with the start of laboratory research. "As a general rule, the following credits are required: Master's program: 30 or more credits. ... The number of necessary credits shall be determined by each department. Year 2 (two-year master's programme) The second year is centred on laboratory research under the academic supervisor and the preparation of the master's thesis, with any remaining departmental credits completed alongside.
