Universitet haqida
Founded in 1826 as the University of London (though without degree-awarding powers) by founders inspired by the radical ideas of Jeremy Bentham, UCL was the first university institution to be established in London, and the first in England to be entirely secular, admitting students regardless of their religion. UCL was intended by its founders to be England's third university, but politics forced it to adopt college status in 1836, when it received a royal charter and became one of the two founding colleges of the University of London, although it achieved de facto recognition as a university in the 1990s and formal university status in 2023. The University grew through the merger of the Institute of Ophthalmology (in 1995), the Institute of Neuroscience (in 1997), the Royal Free Hospital Medical School (in 1998), the Eastman Dental Institute (in 1999), the School of Slavonic and East European Studies (in 1999), the School of Pharmacy (in 2012) and the Institute of Education (in 2014).
UCL's main campus is in Bloomsbury in central London, with a number of institutes and teaching hospitals in other areas of central London. A second campus, UCL East, is in the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park in Stratford, east London. UCL is made up of 11 faculties, with over 100 departments, institutes and research centres. UCL manages several museums and collections in a wide range of fields, including the Petrie Museum of Egyptian Archaeology and the Grant Museum of Zoology and Comparative Anatomy, and awards the annual Orwell Prize for Political Literature. In 2022/23, UCL had a total income of £1.93 billion, of which £527 million was from research grants and contracts. The university contributes around £10 billion to the UK economy each year, mainly through the dissemination of its research and knowledge (£4 billion) and the impact of its own spending (£3 billion).
UCL is a member of many academic organisations, including the Russell Group and the League of European Research Universities, and is part of UCL Partners, the world's largest academic health research centre. It is considered part of the 'golden triangle' of research-intensive universities in the south-east of England. UCL has publishing and commercial activities, including UCL Press, UCL Business and UCL Consultants.
UCL has many famous alumni, including the founder of Mauritius, the first Prime Minister of Japan, one of the co-discoverers of the structure of DNA, and members of the band Coldplay. UCL scientists have discovered five of the naturally occurring noble gases, discovered hormones, invented the vacuum tube and made several fundamental discoveries in modern statistics. As of 2022, UCL has 30 Nobel laureates and three Fields Medalists associated with it as alumni or fellows.

Ariza topshirish uchun ushbu qadamlarni bajaring UCL (University College London)
1
Select your program(s)
On each program's web page you will find admission requirements, application process, deadlines, course content and fee structure. You can apply to more than one programme at UCL. Please note that each programme will take up one of five places on the UCAS list. Most UCL programmes do not accept additional Personal Statements. Therefore, your UCAS Personal Statement will be used as part of the assessment for each course you apply to at UCL. If your programme accepts additional statements, you will be contacted directly to request this.
2
Checking entry requirements
To ensure your application is considered, you must submit your application before the UCAS deadline and meet all entry requirements. Specific grade and subject requirements are listed on each programme page in the undergraduate prospectus. You can also find entry requirements for international qualifications by selecting your country or the country of origin of your qualification from the drop-down menu under 'Other Qualifications'.
3
Checking tuition fees and funding options
Find information about tuition fees, loans and other university costs on our dedicated Fees and funding pages. There you will also find advice on how and when you should pay your tuition fees, how much they are and how to access funding.
4
Find out how to apply and fill out the form
Applications to higher education programmes are made through UCAS. Direct applications to full-time undergraduate programmes are not accepted. Further information on how to apply and how to complete the application form can be found on the UCAS page.
5
Submitting an application
The final step is to submit your completed application to UCAS and it will be received within a few days.
6
Obtaining a visa
Most international students studying undergraduate and postgraduate programmes apply for a student visa using a CAS (Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies) - a unique number issued by the university which confirms that you have been accepted unconditionally to study at UCL. To receive a CAS number you must have met all the terms of your offer.
7
Preparing for departure
Once you have successfully obtained your visa, begin active steps to prepare for departure. Book your tickets, clarify arrival details, and prepare the necessary things and documents. Refer to the university's resources for helpful tips on arrival and adaptation.
