Year 1 Students enrol in October 2027, join a laboratory under a supervisor, and take the nuclear engineering core courses, which are "Semi-compulsory courses offered every year, usually for first year students on the Master's program" and exist "To impart a panoramic understanding of people and society integrated with the basics of nuclear energy." Alongside them students take specialist foundation courses — "Elective courses offered every year, normally for students on the Master's program" that teach "the knowledge and systematic way of thinking indispensable for specialist nuclear energy fields" — and begin the course seminars and project-based exercises. All are generally taught in English.
